Recently, I realized that I had not posted a single blog post in three years. I don’t fault anybody who reads the blog or keeps an eye on the website for thinking I might have disappeared. Surprise, the answer is no. Indeed, in this post I will be going over what I’ve been up to and what’s in the pipeline for the rest of 2026.
What I Was Up To
Let’s start with what I’ve been doing. For one, I’ve joined BlueSky and been posting there somewhat regularly. So if you want to interact a little more with me, you can find me there. I’ve been sharing art I found, my own commentary about the rise of gen AI, and a few photos I’ve taken of museums, nature, or other impressive sights I’ve come across.
By the way, if you’re wondering what my stance on LLMs is, I’m horrified by what has been done with this technology. It has been created by stealing from every creative on the planet, it’s burning up the resources humanity needs to live while also making climate change worse, and it’s not even useful. Gen AI creates the appearance of work, but it’s not reliable and it’s clear that it’s now also causing cognitive issues. Not just through cognitive offloading, but even full blown AI psychosis.
It’s enough to be discouraged from even trying to create art. But that hasn’t been the case for me.
Looking Ahead
I have been writing, though not the Living Sword 4. I am sorry about that and I fully intend to finish the series. But for over a year now I’ve been writing mostly short stories of less than 5,000 words. I had hoped for them to find a home in an anthology by a small press, or in a magazine. So far, no luck there. But one of the short stories has been expanded now to a novella.
A novella I intend to publish myself this year. It’s not a fantasy story, but science fantasy. I’ve already done some teasing of the world it’s set in over at BlueSky. Another reason to follow me there.
I won’t reveal more here today, but stay tuned!
